[00:00:41] Laura Lorentz: Hello everyone, and welcome to this week's episode of Empowered Essence. I think this week is going to be an incredibly healing conversation for anyone who is growing a business alongside a corporate job or a nine to five job. For me, I have been building my business for the last three years, and I was on maternity leave when I started my business.
[00:01:08] But then I went back to my corporate job almost two years ago now, I can't believe how fast time has flown by, but it has. I consciously choose to have my job and my business. It is always and. I consciously choose those things every single day. There's a difference between saying... I am a corporate leader and I'm an entrepreneur versus saying I'm an entrepreneur, but I have a corporate job and I don't use the word but, because I know that I consciously chose those things.
[00:01:44] Everything in your life is a choice. Everything that you choose is serving you in some way. Whether you feel it or see it consciously is a different thing, but it is serving you. For me, I know that my corporate job allows me to really step into my leadership. I love strategy. I love leading people. I lead an amazing, incredible team.
[00:02:09] My job also gives me a lot of financial stability as I'm growing my business. I've made investments that didn't pan out. I've launched things that didn't sell, all sorts of things, but I know that I have this stability of my corporate job to support me through all of those things. I know that's the biggest thing is a lot of people are trying to move away from their corporate job, but sometimes people are moving too quickly because that stability gives a lot.
[00:02:40] It takes a lot off of your nervous system. It really does. When you move too quickly into entrepreneurship, and you're in this state of, I still gotta pay the bills, I still gotta do that, you're putting yourself in a very lax state. The universe loves to respond when you're feeling abundant when you're feeling you've got this under control. So when you've got this foundation or this level of stability, the ideas flow in, creativity is invited in, it frees up space and capacity for you. It allows the financial abundance to then ultimately come your way. So I think that there's so much value.
[00:03:19] I used to be a fan of the shark tank. I don't know if anyone's ever watched this, but Mark Cuban is an extremely successful serial entrepreneur. He always talked on that show of the importance of having a corporate job in addition to building your business. So have comfort and safety or comfort and awareness, knowing that some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world are actually saying that is a very smart thing to do.
[00:03:47] But I say, always use your intuition. There are times that things are serving you and then there will be a time and a period to make a different choice. So whatever that is, whether it's making a choice to stay with in corporate or whether it's a choice to move fully into your entrepreneurial journey, trust yourself.
[00:04:04] Trust yourself in knowing what that right time is and whatever ensues or whatever results from it, you've got this. You can handle this. As you're building your business, with a corporate job, you have to think differently. You literally, and honestly do not have the same time as someone who is building their business, full time.
[00:04:28] So what I say is, It's not that you don't have enough time. You 100% have enough time. You just have to get creative in terms of how you use your time. That's something that I have worked through. and I feel like I've really mastered over these last couple of years. So for me, the biggest thing was how I offer my services so that it can be in a way that is A top quality for my clients, but B honors my energy and my limited time that I truly have to dedicate to my business.[00:05:00]
[00:05:00] The biggest shift was moving away from calls. I don't do any calls where I'm screen to screen or in person with anyone. I do everything, so my energy weaving sessions, you book, I do the session within 10 days, and I do it within my own time, and I voice note back. So that allows me, I can do it first thing when I wake up, at 6am before the kids get up, I can do it over a lunch hour, I can do it right after work, I can do it once the kids go to bed, whenever I feel like I have the energetic capacity to do it, I do it.
[00:05:34] So I know that I will be delivering the highest quality possible for my clients. That's when I have the most creative energy. That's when I feel most connected to my intuition. So I know my clients are always getting the best out of me. And also with the courses that I run, I pre record all of my courses and then offer Voxer, as support or Facebook, depending on what program.
[00:05:56] So then I know that the content. Of the course is high quality because I've got the energy to give to it. I'm excited about it. I'm passionate about it. But then they can reach me and in these one off ways to ask questions, and I don't have to align my busy schedule to anyone else's schedule, which was a huge stressor for me, at the beginning.
[00:06:18] So if you are a service provider, how can you get more creative in terms of how you offer your services? Same with my content that I put out there, it's really when I have the energy, ideas, capacity to put something out there. I don't force myself. If I go two days without posting anything, that doesn't matter to me.
[00:06:40] When I show up, I know that whatever I'm delivering is the highest value and highest quality for the people that are observing or the people that are watching my Instagram page. So that is something that's so important. It's not about time in business, it's really all about the quality of energy, and then the timing will work itself out, as long as you're in alignment.
[00:07:04] Alignment to me is, I have the energy, I have the capacity, and the creative desire to put something out there. If all of that aligns, then it's going to be inevitable. My, success is inevitable because I am always constantly realigning myself. If something doesn't feel good, I don't do it. If I don't have the energy, I'm not forcing myself to do it.
[00:07:28] As a projector, especially. Running a business and working a job being a mom. I need to be very efficient with the little energy that I have and finding time to rest. There are some days that I don't do anything. I rest. I take a vacation from my corporate job and I lie like a potato on the couch while my kids are at daycare.
[00:07:52] You know what? I've took a lot of deconditioning around that, but those are some of the best days that I have for myself, because I know that it's regenerative. I think a lot of us focus on this generative self care, which I feel like could be another podcast episode here. but, regenerative self care is really just all about taking care of you without a mission, without a goal, without trying to do anything.
[00:08:20] You're just trying to regenerate. instead of generative, which could be doing yoga or scheduling things and thinking that it's self care, that kind of stuff. So I think it's just really important that for anyone who is growing their business alongside their corporate job is that they recognize it's a conscious choice.
[00:08:42] It's a conscious choice and having that job in addition to their business is 100% serving them. If they feel frustrated, if they feel bitter about their corporate job, if that's the way that you're feeling right now, then maybe it's an opportunity to look for another job. To support you to have that stability while you grow your business or maybe it's time to actually say goodbye to that job and focus on your business, but that's up to your intuition and your choice.
[00:09:10] I know right now for the journey that I am on that I 100% love what I'm doing right now. I'm learning so much about myself having both roles and I own it. I fully own it. That's a big thing too, a lot of entrepreneurs that are growing their businesses feel like they can't talk about their corporate job.
[00:09:32] It's I've got this one identity and another identity and it's really all about integrating it, owning it, making it a part of yourself. I talk about my corporate job in my business saying that's what I do. it's a big part of, my brand saying that you can run a business very efficiently in addition to having a corporate job.
[00:09:51] Then in my corporate job, I've taught my team about human design and they know so much more about themselves. I use that in my day to day [00:10:00] leadership. I clear zoom calls. People get healings all day, every day from me, whether they know it or not. My intuitive gifts. I can sense when something is off.
[00:10:10] When someone is feeling like they're not 100% in it, I know it. So I'll have conversations with people. My empathic abilities, using human design to lead people. Myhealings and clearings throughout the day, they're all part of what makes me a great leader in corporate and I get to use like my strategy skills.
[00:10:31] I just love it. I love it. I love both. They're both a part of me and I own it. I own it in both realms because it's part of my identity. it was a big piece of integration when I did that. So own it. Stop trying to move away from something because it's serving you and by trying to move away and have this resentment, this bitterness, this frustration towards something, you're actually blocking yourself off energetically from receiving from the thing that you want to grow.
[00:10:59] So as long as you're focusing on, okay, how can I fully own? All of these pieces of me, these identities of me, and do more of the things that I love in my business. That is the secret to success. It truly is. Finding ways to do it efficiently. Sending so much love. I hope this was a very healing conversation.
